Eating Utensil for the Office

Download the research & process (660 Kb)

The Goal (self directed):
To design an eating utensil for eating at ones desk; it needs to be less hassle than metal silverware, and more environmentaly friendly than disposable plastic utensils.

The Gist:
This utensil is designed as a single injection molded piece- with no removable parts or crevices for food to get stuck in, allowing for easy cleaning (even in the bathroom sink).
I tried to avoid creating a "frankenstein" like utensil, where different utensils are added together to make one multi-headed tool. Instead, my aim was to design a new tool, which has the functionality and basic interactions of a spoon, a fork, and chopsticks.

Press & Recognition:
This design is featured in "Wrench in the System," written by Harold Hambrose (CEO, Electronic Ink).
